Washington, D.C., April 23, 1914.
Mr. John P. White,
1111 State Life Bldg., Indianapolis, Ind.

Your telegram conveying harrowing conditions prevailing in Ludlow, Colorado, received. Information of similar import received from Secretary Doyle of District fifteen and matter laid before Chairman Foster of Congressional Investigating Committee. Will present your matter to the responsible men in Congress and if possible to the President for consideration and action. I feel confident that notwithstanding the outrage you will use every influence within your power to dissuade the miners of the country from entering upon a general strike, particularly at this time.

                                                                                Samuel Gompers.
                                                                  President, American Federation of Labor.
