3. Arthur Blythe Rouse (1874-1956) served as a Democratic congressman from Kentucky from 1911 to 1927.

4. Cordell Hull (1871-1955) served as a Democratic congressman from Tennessee from 1907 to 1921 and from 1923 to 1931. He then served briefly as a Democratic senator from the state (1931-33) but resigned to become secretary of state, a post he held from 1933 to 1944.

5. John Nance Garner (1868-1967) served as a Democratic congressman from Texas from 1903 to 1933 and as vice-president of the United States from 1933 to 1941.

6. Hull served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1921 to 1924.
