1. Bruce Barton (1886-1967) was at this time an assistant sales manager at the publishing firm of P. F. Collier and Son. In 1919 he was a founder of the advertising firm of Barton, Durstine, and Osborn (after 1928, Batten, Barton, Durstine, and Osborn), and in 1925 he published The Man Nobody Knows.  Barton later served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York (1937-41).
